JOINERS WORKSHOP DISPLAY.

The main exhibition hall at Summerlee houses displays depicting many aspects of the social and industrial history of Lanarkshire. Machinery in use in many of the iron works, coal mines and factories in the area can be seen, much of it operating as it would have during its working life. There are also many vehicles on display that would have travelled the Lanarkshire byways delivering goods to the factories.

The Social History displays include shopping in the 19th and 20th centuries, Lanarkshire during the Second World War and a variety of smaller displays, such as printing, the cinema, a cobblers shop and even the dreaded dentist's chair!

The exhibition hall also houses a fine Compton cinema organ, which is played at concerts, recitals and other special events by members of the Scottish Cinema Organ Trust. For more information on this follow this link.
