INTERIOR OF A LATE 19TH CENTURY COTTAGE

The cottages at Summerlee are replicas of the type that iron workers and coal miners would have lived in during the 18th,19th and early 20th centuries.

Several rooms have been created depicting working life from the late 1700's through to the 1960's. These are fitted out using period fixtures and fittings to help create a sense of the living conditions for industrial workers in Lanarkshire at that time.

The cottages are open all year round and occassionally host special events. Please check out the 'events' pages for further details.

Tours for the coal mine also leave from the cottages.
